The Osteoporosis 'Epidemic'
New Zealand and Australian readers:
|
The National Osteoporosis Foundation in the US tells us one in two women in the US will suffer an osteoporotic fracture, suggesting that this disease is more widespread than breast cancer, AIDS and heart disease rolled together! But a recent Government-funded Canadian survey of 10,000 people indicates the actual prevalence more like 1 in 6 – or 1 in 8.
Researchers are finding that new technology may be diagnosing low bone density when in fact it is a normal level for that person. Are many women taking HRT or other potent drugs to treat a disease they don’t have? Are they pumping themselves with calcium supplements and dairy products that won’t have any effect?
No other book questions the current diagnosis of the disease and the way in which it is treated. It offers in-depth information based on new and previously unpublished evidence. Osteoporosis offers solutions and hope to genuine sufferers.
